Frequently Asked Questions

What is EdgeCycle?

1

EdgeCycle is a sustainability and razor-recovery system designed for barbershops, salons, and other professional grooming businesses. We help participating businesses establish a more accountable approach to used razor recovery through enrollment, zero-waste certification standards, and documented participation.

Our mission is to reduce grooming waste, promote responsible handling, and build a circular recovery system for professional grooming materials.

What happens to the used razor blades?

2

EdgeCycle coordinates the recovery of used razor blades through authorized handling and downstream processing partners. Our goal is to divert recoverable materials from landfills wherever feasible and support a documented, accountable recovery process.

Our long-term vision is to recover razor metals for processing and reuse in new products, including potentially more affordable professional grooming tools.

The final destination of recovered materials depends on the capabilities and arrangements of our downstream partners. We are committed to communicating our recovery process transparently rather than claiming recycling outcomes that have not been verified.

How much does EdgeCycle membership cost?

3

Annual enrollment is $179 per participating business, subject to the current program terms.

Membership is designed to provide access to the EdgeCycle program, applicable certification materials, and participation benefits. Before enrolling, businesses can review the current service terms to understand what is included, how recovery arrangements work in their area, and any applicable shipping or service charges.

What does my business receive when it enrolls?

4

Participating businesses receive access to the EdgeCycle enrollment and certification program, applicable Zero Waste Certified™ materials, and the program's designated recovery resources.

Depending on the current service arrangement, program materials may include a Recovery Station or recovery container, a certificate, and educational posters. Participation may also support inclusion in EdgeCycle's participating-business directory or map.

Specific deliverables and collection availability should be confirmed for your location before enrollment.

Does EdgeCycle collect the blades, and how does the process work?

5

EdgeCycle is developing a coordinated recovery system that connects participating grooming businesses with appropriate handling and downstream processing arrangements.

Collection availability, scheduling, and service coverage depend on the location and operational partners supporting the program. Contact EdgeCycle to confirm the current arrangements for your business before enrolling.

Used blades must always be contained and handled in accordance with applicable safety requirements. EdgeCycle enrollment does not replace a business's existing legal obligations for sharps handling and disposal.

Why should my barbershop join EdgeCycle?

6

EdgeCycle gives your business a way to participate in a more responsible approach to grooming waste while demonstrating your commitment to professional standards and sustainability.

Participation can help your shop communicate its efforts to customers, contribute to documented recovery initiatives, and become part of a broader movement toward circular resource use in the grooming industry.

Our larger goal is to connect individual shops, recovery partners, sponsors, and communities in a system that makes responsible razor recovery more accessible and sustainable.
